Nick started his career in sales recruitment with HMS in 1991 and moved to Elan Computing Ltd a year later where he worked in permanent IT recruitment. In 1995 he co-founded Edinburgh-based Careercare which evolved into Bright Purple Resourcing.
Nick leads from the front, inducing passion, innovation and good humour in the team around him. He has also led the diversification of Bright Purple from being solely an IT recruitment firm to one that now also specialises in high end placements for the financial services industry. He is committed to setting the highest industry standards for Bright Purple, focused on nurturing great people and raising standards across the recruitment industry.
Along with his key role at Bright Purple, Nick is also on the board of ScotlandIS, the technology trade association for Scotland, and on the Scottish board of The Financial Services Club, a networking and educational club aimed specifically at professionals operating in the financial services sector.
Nick is married to Margita and has three children, so spends most of his weekends following them around as the local taxi service. He has a passion for football and although his playing days are long past, he has a son and daughter that both play competitively. He likes a game of golf on the rare occasion that he gets the time to play.
A keen supporter of charitable causes, Nick has been involved in helping Cystic Fibrosis and Action for Children in recent years by taking part in a series of events, from abseiling off the Forth Rail Bridge to sleeping rough in a park to raise awareness of UK homeless children.
Jan joined Bright Purple in 1996 and has since held various positions within the company, from running the permanent recruitment division to operations director. Jan is the Key Accounts Director and her main focus is the development of all major accounts.
In her first recruitment role, Jan worked for IT specialist CSS where she set up a permanent division for the company in Scotland. Five years on she was headhunted by the Royal Bank of Scotland to handle resource management for its IT division before joining Bright Purple.
Jan is the most organised person at Bright Purple - she always seems to know where everything is and meeting deadlines is her speciality.
Apart from her full-on role within Bright Purple, Jan is also a full time mum to three great girls which keeps her fully occupied away from work. When she needs a break from the kids, she’s usually found walking her dog Archie on Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.
Alastair joined Bright Purple in 1997 after 13 years with the world leading technology consulting firm ICL. He is a graduate of Strathclyde University with a BA in Accountancy and also holds the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification.
Alastair and his partner are big fans of Spain and all things Spanish. He has been taking intensive Spanish language lessons for a few years and has had plenty of practice - if he’s not visiting the country on holiday with his partner, he can often be found playing golf – his other big passion - in the Marbella region.
