The new team is headed up by finance recruitment specialist Mike Leeman, so we decided to put Mike under the spotlight in order to find out what makes him tick!

Bright Purple continued on its growth path during 2008/9 in one of the toughest economic climates the UK has known and with that confidence behind them, the business has decided to expand its service offering to the banking and financial markets. With the turmoil in the markets, especially the banks and financial institutions, some might question the strategy, however Bright Purple’s MD Nick Price is confident it’s the right time.

Nick commented “our company has always supplied the banks and financial markets with technology people, but these days many of the candidates we work for, have to have a strong business background as well. Therefore we found that we were working with clients on roles that were moving more towards the business and so it was an easy decision to bring in someone to lead a pure finance based team.”

He continued “we knew the type of person we wanted to lead the new offering and we hired Mike Leeman in the main role. Mike knows his business area, he has a great work ethic and is well respected by the clients who have worked with him and we are confident he will be a great addition to our team here at Bright Purple.”

Mike Leeman joined Bright Purple from Michael Page in May 2009 to lead the banking and financial services recruitment team. With over 8 years recruiting in to the UK banking and financial markets, Mike brings a wealth of experience to Bright Purple.

So what do we know about Mike?

What Made you choose recruitment as a career?

After graduating from university I ran a theatre company for 4 years which was great fun, but not too financially rewarding. Soon after moving to London I was introduced to recruitment as a career option and I jumped at the opportunity to try. The key things that I liked about recruitment were that it was a job where personal communication was an essential skill, enabling you to talk to a wide variety of people every day. It was a job where you could make a real positive change in people’s lives and play a part in their future success. Most importantly it was a role where you were responsible for your own progression and success, the more work you put in the more you were rewarded.

Why did you decide Bright Purple Resourcing was the right move for you?

The reputation that Bright Purple had for personal service and delivering results, made me interested in them in the first instance. On meeting Nick Price and his team I could see that Bright Purple was a company that everyone felt passionate working for. The commitment and help that they were prepared to give to me to help me become successful and also to the new financial services venture, meant that this was a great offer from a great company.

What is your remit going forward?

Quite simply to grow the business! By engaging with more clients and candidates the Bright Purple name is becoming synonymous not only with results in the technology sector but the financial services sector as well. I want us to be people’s first choice when they are looking for a new role or looking to fill a vacancy.

How’s life been at Bright Purple since May 2009?

Life has been great, but very busy. It has taken a lot of time and effort to set the business in motion and to get the message out to the financial services community. I have not been disappointed in the team here, as Nick’s enthusiasm and positivity infects everyone in the office. Everyone has been a great help. On a personal note my career at Bright Purple was interrupted early on, as I got married in August 2009 and so it is all systems go now, as I need to pay for the wedding!

<div id="seolinx-tooltip" style="border: 1px solid #000000; The research also indicated that the number of IT contractors with "false truths" on their CV's has trebled to 18%.

While the rise in competition for IT and financial positions might make some candidates feel they need to "pad out" their CV in order to compete, Bright Purple operations director Jan Mutch believe that recruiters must take greater responsibility in weeding out candidates who are being "less than economical with the truth".

"At Bright Purple, we ensure that our recruitment professionals put the time in, in order to fully understand the roles they are recruiting for and the requirements of the client. Working in this manner, rather than simply recruiting based on matches in buzzwords from the job spec on candidate CV's ensures that the client is provided with candidates who are fully equipped and honestly capable of the role".

(For original article see Recruiter)
<div id="seolinx-tooltip" style="border: 2px solid #0099ff;
