Tesco Provide Scottish Recruitment Boost
Tesco have announced plans for the creation of 800 new jobs in Glasgow through the opening of a customer service centre for its Tesco Personal Finance business already based in Glasgow

Tesco’s announcement that it is to create 800 new jobs in Glasgow is a welcome boost to recruitment in the city and in Scotland.

The supermarket chain says it plans to open a customer service centre for its Tesco Personal Finance business in central Glasgow.

Nick Price, managing director of IT recruiter Bright Purple, which already supplies Tesco Personal Finance in Scotland, said “This is great news considering the upheavals that we have had in the Scottish finance industry and the problems with RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) and HBOS (Halifax Bank of Scotland). It’s a great confidence booster for the recruitment industry.”

Jim Watson, senior director, financial services, at Scottish Enterprise, added: “In the face of current global economic circumstances, Glasgow has continued to work very hard to attract new jobs and investment in the financial sector. Today’s news from Tesco, together with esure’s recent announcement of a further 500 jobs in Glasgow’s International Financial Services District, underlines the city has a lot to offer.”
