Web Designer, London

My truly fantastic Media client is looking for a Web Designer to join their existing team based in London. This client really seeks people who are keen on using some of the latest technologies and who have an innovative approach to design.

You will be working on a really fantastic genealogy product/project, one of our clients sites with millions of users. With drive and imagination you will work self-sufficiently maintaining a high standards both visually and technically. You will work with developers, product management and will manage a designer.

With a true passion for design you will be required to develop a significant new site - wide design with newly created features and functionality, including responsive design for mobile and tablets, and ideally experience of native iOS development. You will be happy to work with and under the direction from an external consultant design director.

Responsibilities

*Development of new functionality
*Day to day website management including creation of new web pages
*Email marketing.
*Become a part of our product's UX process
*Work with the Product Manager to define and implement site design, features and functionality
*Deliver projects to achieve business objectives by engaging consumers
*Incorporation of design provided into a product
*Fixing of any bugs in web page operation
*Adherence to all required web accessibility standards
*Browser compatibility for all products
*Suggest and implement changes to page flow and design
*Consistent look and feel of the products across all pages
*Management of a team of one

Essential Skills

*Extensive commercial experience in web design
*Excellent knowledge of HTML/ XHTML, CSS, Adobe CS (creative suite), Illustrator, Fireworks,
*Knowledge of prototyping / mock ups in Azure / Balsamiq
*Keen eye for design and artistic flair
*Understanding of accessibility issues and browser compatibility
*Excellent organisation skills
*Understanding of usability and user centred design

Desirable Skills
*Drive and imagination
*Ability to work self-sufficiently
*Ability to turn projects around quickly
*Proven hands-on experience of building templates for email marketing
*Experience using Visual Studios and TFS
*Knowledge and execution of iOS
*Print design experience
*Experience working with back-end built websites
*Understands user experience methodology and the importance of testing.
