A market-leading international software development company is looking to expand their team of IT Field Support Engineers.
This role involves offshore international travel on-board survey vessels.
Base salary circa £35,000 plus £182 per day offshore plus lots of other perks and benefits
Field Support Engineers are responsible for installing, commissioning and supporting a range complex software systems in offshore survey environments. Due to the diversity of the end-client base and the nature of the oil exploration industry, the role provides the opportunity for worldwide travel, primarily undertaking support roles on vessels undertaking seismic surveys. When not in the field, duties include office-based client support, system commissioning and testing, and involvement in client training and documentation.
The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of Linux and some networking trouble-shooting experience combined with a passion for problem solving or any experience with radio / satellite communications or GPS systems along with application/ software support experience.
This role would very much suit people with commercial offshore survey or IT support experience or ex-military personnel. However consideration will be given to graduates from a Geo-Science background or anyone with the necessary IT support experience seeking a new adventure.
Candidates will be given full offshore survival training before deployment and any job offer will be subject to satisfactory medical checks. For the first 6 months there will be a requirement to be office based in Edinburgh on a hybrid basis for intense product training. When fully up to speed there is more flexibility around remote working and offshore trips.
