Machine Learning Engineer

An exciting AI Fintech harnessing the latest in emerging Machine Learning technologies to democratise access to data are building a team following the early success of their product. They are early-stage, and securing funding to further grow their customer base and invest in their technology, so it is very much “that start-up life”.
 
In practise, this means you must be willing to work at a fast pace, have a mindset all geared towards shipping product, and willing to get stuck in to various aspects of product development, data and ML.
 
 
As well of a base salary of up to £60,000 depending on experience, benefits include:

You’ll be working in a really exciting tech stack, using Elixir, OpenAI’s API, and Postgres with a fantastically bright and ambitious founding team with top PhDs having established the stack, architecture and roadmap.
 
Key responsibilities and duties:
  • The role will focus on improving their document extraction and data pipelines, which includes everything from labelling ops, reviewing new fields for extraction, schema development, training and validations, deployment, etc.
  • Willing to get hands dirty with the documents and types of data that we work with, which require high attention to detail.
  • Can prototype quickly, but also create well thought-out solutions for productions.
  • Knowledge of Postgres strongly recommended
  • We use exclusively Elixir for now, but no knowledge of Elixir is required
  • We finetune models on OpenAI. We're not looking to train our own models anytime soon; we simply use the best and cheapest tool for the job
  • Likes to work in a fast pace environment where requirements and priorities can change overnight
 
Ideally you’d bring the following experience:
 
  • Experience working with unstructured data – data cleansing, validation, etc
  • Experience with text data (NLP, documentation extraction/annotation, semantic analysis, etc.)
  • Knowledge of a programming language such as: Elixir, Python, Scala, C# or Java
  • Experience with data pipelines
  • Experience designing high-performance APIs
  • Knowledge of the OpenAI API
