Lead Test Engineer
Remote / Scotland
£45,000 + benefits
One of Scotland's most successful family-owned tech businesses is looking to hire a new Test Lead to help provide guidance and oversight to their test team. This role would be available remote with very occasional travel to their offices based in Southern Scotland.
In this role, you will be a leading a small test team of three people, and this is an exciting and creative opening as you will be tasked with evaluating the best approaches and testing methods to guarantee effective QA across the product development life-cycle. Their test team has a great culture and they've been working closely together for many years - naturally, as this organisation can boast brilliant long-term staff retention and minimal levels of turnover - but as they look to a number of exciting projects planned for 2022, they've decided it is time to bring in some new ideas.
Their industry leading SaaS platform - which supports sales and operations for some of the leading brands in the UK - is built with C#, so any prior experience with similar software would be beneficial. But, most importantly, we are looking for somebody who can step back and evaluate how the tools, processes and approaches used can be improved or overhauled.
You may not be a well-versed hands-on automation tester, but your knowledge, understanding or interest in newer, automated or test-first approaches to QA could be invaluable here. There is no dogma around testing within the business, so a blend of well-worn manual approaches could be offset by the introduction of software tools like Selenium. If you did decide to go down the full automated approach, Senior Management will fully back you in the design, build, and introduction of the test automation frameworks you feel are best suitable for the product and strategy.
Ideally you will bring the following experience:
  • Working as a senior or lead tester in a software company
  • Knowledge of modern, automation approaches to testing
  • Experience of both mobile and browser testing
  • Regression, UAT, smoke, exploratory testing
Bonus points for:
  • ISTQB certification
  • Building and maintaining test automation frameworks from scratch
  • Knowledge of scripting and programming (C#, Java, Python, Perl, Bash etc.)
  • Restful API testing
  • JIRA or Confluence
If you think you have the skills and experience needed, why wait, when your career could be changing forever! Apply NOW with your latest CV or share this with the person you first think of!
