Recruitment has been my playground for years — and I genuinely love it. It holds a magic mix of people, puzzles, and possibilities and every day is different, every conversation has potential, and every placement has the chance to change someone’s life.
What keeps me hooked is that it’s not just about “filling roles.” It’s about really understanding people and businesses, spotting the gaps, and connecting the dots. It’s seeing the look on a candidate’s face when they land the role they’ve been chasing, or the relief in a hiring manager’s voice when they know they’ve finally found the right person..
The tech industry keeps me on my toes too. It’s moving so fast you need to be part recruiter, part translator, part fortune-teller. One day you’re talking cloud, the next it’s AI, and by Friday someone’s trying to convince you blockchain isn’t dead. For me, it’s hugely educational and genuinely exciting.
But let’s park the job title for a moment. Who am I outside of work?
First and foremost: I’m a dad and I love it. Being a parent is a huge part of who I am, and while it can be chaos, it’s the kind of chaos I wouldn’t trade for anything. Honestly, refereeing squabbles at home has a certain joy.
When I’m not in “dad mode,” you’ll probably catch me on a tennis or padel court trying to convince myself I’ve still got it. Or you’ll find me at Easter Road, supporting Hibs through the highs and lows - mostly lows, but that’s football - It keeps me humble. I’m also learning Spanish, slowly but surely. If you want to talk fútbol, tapas, or how to order una cerveza ((cinco if you know me ) then I am your man.
I love great food, live theatre, and generally being out and about soaking up and creating atmosphere. So, to sum me up: I’m a people person through and through. I thrive on connection, whether that’s matching the right person to the right job, having a laugh over padron peppers or trading tales after a tennis match. Recruitment might be my career, but people are my passion, and if you’ve got that in common with me then we’ll get on just fine.
