QA Lead Engineer
UK Remote
£53,000
We're recruiting a QA Lead Engineer to join a dedicated delivery team working on the Property Management Programme (PMP) This is a genuine opportunity to build a QA function from the ground up within a business that's rebuilding its entire software estate around modern, web-based applications.
You'll take the lead on quality across a programme with real scale and real stakes, shaping testing standards, embedding best practice, and working hand-in-hand with developers, UX designers, and the product manager to make sure what gets built actually works, for high volumes of data and at pace.
If you've established QA functions before, know your way around API testing and testing strategy, and want to make a visible, lasting impact rather than just following someone else's playbook, this role is built for you.
What you will be doing:
- Define and lead the QA strategy for the product, aligned to the wider organisational approach, ensuring quality is built in from planning through to delivery
- Establish manual and automated testing processes, UAT cycles and a QA framework for the programme
- Develop clear test plans, acceptance criteria and release sign-off standards for PBIs and bug fixes
- Verify that developed features meet defined requirements and approved acceptance criteria
- Partner closely with developers, UX designers and the product manager for early collaboration on testing, usability and accessibility
- Champion a quality-first culture and promote industry-standard testing practices across the team
- Introduce tools, metrics and reporting to measure quality, stability and user confidence
- Support continuous improvement in delivery processes, release management and stakeholder communication
- Check builds match designs faithfully across all required devices
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience leading QA across web product or platform teams
- Hands-on experience of API testing
- Strong manual testing, UAT and release validation experience in a product-led environment
- Comfortable working within lean-agile / Scrum teams
- Confident communicator, able to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Experience with web application testing, cross-browser validation and accessibility standards
- Good working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and how QA fits within them
- A track record of establishing QA functions within product or web teams from scratch
