QA Engineer
UK Remote
Up to £40,000

We're recruiting a QA / Test Engineer to join a dedicated delivery team working on a major, multi-year programme of digital transformation. Our client is rebuilding its software environment around modern, web-based applications, and a new product currently in active development needs a sharp QA and Testing Engineer to make sure business and user requirements are delivered by the software development team.

You'll bring strong automated and manual testing experience, be comfortable writing acceptance criteria and test cases, and be equally at home across UI, API and data testing. A solid grasp of API concepts, usage and testability is essential, along with experience working in Lean-Agile / Scrum teams and a track record of driving high testing standards within that way of working.

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure product backlog items (PBIs) meet the defined acceptance criteria
  • Design and write test plans, scenarios, scripts and procedures
  • Participate in product design reviews, providing input on functional requirements, designs, schedules and potential problems
  • Plan test schedules and strategies in line with project scope and delivery dates
  • Monitor bug resolution efforts and track progress
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality
  • Carry out user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Create and execute automated tests at both UI and API level
  • Identify deviation from standards and suggest modifications to ensure compliance
  • Investigate problems referred by the wider programme
  • Coordinate user or third-party testing
  • Collaborate with field staff or customers to evaluate or diagnose problems and recommend solutions

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in both automated and manual testing
  • Confident writing clear acceptance criteria and test cases
  • Able to adapt across UI, API and data testing requirements
  • Solid grasp of API concepts, usage and testability
  • Experience working within Lean-Agile / Scrum development teams
  • A track record of driving high testing standards within Scrum principles
