Head of Hardware Engineering - Edinburgh/ Dundee/ Remote
Bright Purple Resourcing is working with one of Scotland's fastest growing multi-award winning scale-up technology companies whose state-of-the-art software and hardware solutions are used on a global scale to shake-up the agricultural technology (AgriTech) industry; with a particular focus on vertical farming and lighting as a Service (LaaS)
Our clients' niche lighting products really do have an impact on sustainability, lowering the carbon footprint and generally making the world a better place. The same science is also used in more commercial markets such as retail outlets, supermarkets, smart offices, hospitals, car parks and much more.
This is a very exciting time to join a rapidly expanding international SME as a Head of Hardware Engineering.
Key metrics will include delivering against customer/market requirements, time-to-market and managing to budget. The role will collaborate with the Chief Technical Officer, Head of Software Engineering, Head of Supply Chain and Head of Customer Support to deliver the full product life cycle.
To be considered you will bring the following to the role:
*Experience with multi-discipline product design for globally deployed products
*Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Controls / Firmware / Compliance
*Component design e.g. enclosures, Communication and Power electronics,
*System design including integration of multiple internally developed and 3rd part components
*Broad understanding of underlying technologies including Industrial Automation systems, Robotics, Control Systems, HVAC, LED & Drivers, Sensors
*Familiar with fabrication techniques such as injection moulding, laser cutting, CNC, die-casting
*Managing 3rd parties for full and semi-custom designs
*Experienced with Engineering processes and ERP (BOM, AVL etc)
*Experienced with regulatory compliance such as CE & UL
