About the Role
The pivotal role of the Network Engineer within our team cannot be overstated. Actively engaging in establishing a stable and secure foundation for both our internal and external networks, they are essential to our operations. Success in this role demands not only demonstrable experience but also proficiency in systems, networks, and security protocols. Key responsibilities of the Network Engineer will include:

Work onsite in Edinburgh, 3 days a week collaboratively with the rest of the team.

Proactively identifying, monitoring, and resolving network issues, while also anticipating and mitigating future trends to enhance overall network performance. This involves continual improvement of business-as-usual (BAU) processes and procedures.

Taking ownership of the entire network landscape, advocating for an automated approach over manual intervention, leveraging appropriate tools, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. Additionally, the Network Engineer will play a central role in developing and executing disaster recovery (DR) plans.

Being available for on-call duties and actively participating in incident response protocols when required.

Profound expertise in networking, alongside adeptness in monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.

Extensive hands-on experience with firewalls, OSI layer protocols, and switching.

Competence in configuring and implementing LAN/WAN infrastructure, both physical and virtual.

Strong grasp of network design principles, resilience strategies, and adherence to industry best practices.

Prior exposure to MSP or Datacentre environments is a significant advantage.

Desired familiarity with ESXi networking services.
